Governor: Siemens dispute not to impact Crimean power plant launch

SEVASTOPOL, Sep 29 (PRIME) -- The Sevastopol thermal power plant is being constructed fast and will be launched on time, Governor of the Crimean city of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov told PRIME on Friday.

“The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on, as a proverb says. The thermal power plant is being constructed at full speed under the eagle eye of the Energy Ministry of the Russian Federation,” he said.

“More than 1,000 people and 100 machines are working on a double-shift basis. We are sure the facilities will be launched on time.”

The first stage of development of two new power facilities with an aggregate capacity of 940 megawatt built in the Crimea will be put online on May 19, 2018, and the second stage will be commissioned on June 18, 2018.

Germany’s Siemens said in July that all the four turbines meant to be used at a power plant on Russia’s Taman Peninsula were illegally shipped to Crimea, forcing the company to cancel its licensing agreements to sell power equipment to Russian firms and suspend the current agreements with state-run companies.
